Dr. Benjamin Fergus is the Founder and Clinic Director of Cornerstone Health in Evanston, IL. He established the clinic with a bold mission: to help solve the chronic pain crisis by delivering evidence-based, non-surgical treatment options that offer lasting relief without the need for medication, injections, or surgery.
Dr. Fergus is a global leader in conservative healthcare and non-surgical joint recovery. He developed the GRIP Approach—an innovative system for assessing and resolving chronic pain and neuromechanical dysfunction—right here at Cornerstone Health. Today, he teaches this method to healthcare professionals around the world. GRIP Approach training manuals have been translated into seven languages, and his students now serve in top-tier clinical roles ranging from private practice to Olympic training centers and professional sports teams.
Dr. Fergus is also the creator of the Non-Surgical Joint Replacement (NSJR) method, a breakthrough treatment protocol designed to restore function and reduce pain in degenerative joints—including advanced cases like bone-on-bone arthritis—without the risks of surgical intervention. This method is now helping patients regain mobility and avoid joint replacements through a comprehensive and regenerative care approach.
He is formally trained in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) by its founder, Professor Pavel Kolar, P.T., PaedDr., Ph.D., and was the first chiropractor in Illinois to become DNS-certified. DNS, which is referenced by thought leaders such as Peter Attia, MD, is a globally recognized rehabilitation system focused on restoring intrinsic stability and efficient movement patterns.
Dr. Fergus also serves as adjunct faculty at both Logan University and National University of Health Sciences. He is a regular educator with the Academy of Shockwave Excellence, where he trains providers in the use of Storz radial and focused shockwave therapy (ESWT) to reduce the effects of osteoarthritis, regenerate cartilage, and activate stem cells to support long-term healing of chronically damaged tissues.
Through Cornerstone Health, Dr. Fergus is changing the culture around chronic pain recovery and reshaping how we approach joint degeneration. His goal is to resolve chronic pain in Evanston—then scale that impact globally.
If you're living with persistent pain or looking to avoid knee, hip, or shoulder surgery, Dr. Fergus encourages you to explore a new approach to lasting recovery at Cornerstone Health.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Fergus enjoys cooking and grilling, traveling with his family, and spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking, and playing pickleball.
